Chocolate Crinkles

It seems like everyone is making these this year. I've been seeing them all over the internet lately, and each recipe is different. Mine is from my Better Homes & Gardens cookbook, which varies slightly from the version in my mom's older edition of the cookbook. The current version on their website is different still.
I first made them over two years ago and they were a huge hit. I brought them in to work and ever since then my manager has been bugging me to make more, which is the main reason I decided to include them in my Christmas baking this year.
Makes about 5-1/2 dozen cookies
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour (I replaced half with white whole wheat flour)
sifted powdered sugar
In a large mixing bowl beat eggs, granulated sugar, chocolate, oil, baking powder, and vanilla with an electric mixer until combined. Beat in flour. Cover and chill dough for 1-2 hours or until easy to handle.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar to coat generously. Place 1-inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 375° oven for 8-10 minutes or until edges are set and tops are crackled. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.
