Vanilla Yogurt

![]() I tried something different with my last batch of yogurt. Since stirring yogurt causes it to lose its structure, I decided to flavor/sweeten it before incubating. I left one container plain to use as the starter for my next batch, but to the rest of the mixture I added 6 packets of splenda (one per container) and vanilla extract (I can't remember now whether it was 1/2 or 1 tsp). They incubated for 5 hours and the end result was just what I'd hoped for. Next time I may leave out the vanilla though. Lately, my favorite way to eat homemade yogurt is this: heat a handful of frozen mixed berries for a minute in the microwave. Add a packet of splenda and smoosh them up with a fork. Add a container of yogurt (about 6 oz) and gently fold together so the yogurt keeps some of its thickness. So good. » Recipe for Homemade Yogurt |
